DEPOK – The year 2023 marks 64 years of work and travel of the Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia. The event took place in a simple yet festive manner at the Auditorium of the Communication Building, UI Depok Campus, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. The birthday event was celebrated together by the big family of the Department of Communication Science, namely senior lecturers, alumni, and student representatives from the Postgraduate Program and the Communication Science Undergraduate Program. The event was also attended by the Dean of FISIP UI, Prof. Dr. Drs. Semiarto Aji Purwanto, M.Si. along with Faculty representatives and representatives from departments at FISIP, University of Indonesia.
The event began with remarks from the Head of Department, Dr. Hendriyani, followed by the cutting of tumpeng and birthday cake which was distributed to retired lecturers, including Prof. Zulhasril Nasir, Ph.D., and Dra. Ina Ratna Mariani, M.A. On this occasion, the Head of the Department explained the Department’s achievements in 2023, including the inaugural Prof. Dr. Donna Asteria as Permanent Professor of FISIP which was just held on December 6, 2023. The department also appreciated two lecturers and three staff members who entered retirement in 2023, namely Dra. Henny S. Widyaningsih, M.Si., Dr. Ade Armando, then Titi Prihati, Taram, and Hendri Sunandi.
The event was then enlivened by performances from the two winners of the karaoke competition “HUT DepKom,” namely Dian Ariani (Graduate student of Communication Science Class of 2022) and Bagus Budiono (Graduate student of Communication Science Class of 2023). Performances from undergraduate students of Batch 2022, Paundra and Priscilla also added to the excitement of the event. The excitement was supported by a Guess the Face game session which was won by a collaborative group of lecturers and staff.
