SALEMBA – In this new academic year, the University of Indonesia’s Graduate Program in Communication Sciences has a new batch of 2023 students. This year the UI Postgraduate Program in Communication Science opened 4 master’s program classes consisting of 2 regular classes and 2 special classes. In order to welcome the new batch of 2023 students, the University of Indonesia Communication Science Graduate Student Association (HIMPASKOM UI) took the initiative to hold a “Welcoming Freshmen 2023” work program. This event aims to welcome the new batch of 2023 students into the big family of the UI Communication Science Postgraduate Program.
This program was carried out by the Internal Division of HIMPASKOM UI chaired by Liza Erica Panjaitan and hosted by Aliona Majesty Tarigan. Welcoming Freshmen 2023 took place on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 16.00 in Room 602 IASTH Building, UI Salemba Campus. The event began with hospitality and remarks from Dede Kurniyawan as Chairman of HIMPASKOM UI 2023 and Tri Andriyanto as General Secretary of HIMPASKOM UI 2022.
To break the ice, the host brought some introductory and cohesiveness games that were followed by all participants. Participants of the event can also enjoy potluck food and drinks provided by each class, both from the class of 2023 new students, as well as 2022 students. During the games and potluck, the participants were able to interact and build communication with each other, thus increasing intimacy and building togetherness.
There was also a sharing session hosted by students from across generations in the Communication Science Graduate Program. The first sharing session was presented by Wulan Kusumaningtyas, a 2021 student, with the theme “Self-Management During the Lecture Period”. The next sharing session was presented by Fira Isrofillah, a 2022 student, who raised the theme “Mental Health as a Student”. These two topics are considered to be very relevant to the twists and turns of lectures during their time as master students. So that with this sharing session, new students of class 2023 can prepare themselves to undergo lectures well.
The Internal Division specifically invited several student representatives from various batches to enliven this event. With the presence of various class representatives, it is hoped that a close-knit family can be established in the bonds of the UI Postgraduate Communication Science Program. In addition, the new students of batch 2023 are also expected to feel warmly welcomed through this event, so that in the future the relationship between batches can also be well maintained.
