Personal busyness is not a barrier to achievement. Meriell Jade Eugenia Tendean, an alumnus of the UI Communication Science Postgraduate Program who just graduated in September 2023, is the best graduate as the winner of a perfect GPA of 4.00.

Familiarly called Meriell, she has an educational background in S1 Bioprocess Technology, Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering UI. Meriell has been active in the communications field since graduating from her undergraduate studies as a communications consultant. During her 4 years in the field of communication, Meriell expressed her interest and desire to deepen her knowledge in the field of communication. So in 2021, Meriell was officially registered as one of the 2021 batch of UI Communication Science Postgraduate students in the special class (night).

“It’s fun to learn

work and college, as well as the experience of building Himpaskom from scratch and becoming treasurer,” he said. Meriell shared the challenges she faced during her Postgraduate studies in Communication Science UI, where the new scientific field for her made her need time at the same time.

greater effort to understand the lecture material, especially those related to communication theory.

During her studies at the UI Postgraduate Communication Science Program, Meriell tends to take Marketing Communication as her specialization, so most of the elective classes she takes are in line with this specialization. Meriell also expressed her interest in the phenomenon of the digital transformation of the church, which she observed a lot and picked up on some assignments at the beginning of the semester. “I saw that the metaverse was being talked about and used by several large churches. But not many have researched the use of the metaverse as a medium of worship,” Meriell explains. Due to her interest in this topic, Meriell is also taking a Digital Research Methods specialization course that she hopes will support her thesis topic, “The Metaverse in Religion: Understanding Factors Linked to Satisfaction with Virtual Technologies.”

The success of her studies at the UI Postgraduate Communication Science successfully led Meriell to continue her brilliant career at one of the Regional Public Relations (PR) companies in Singapore until she settled there. “Keep fighting, with gratitude and joy,” Meriell concluded.

Messages and impressions: Studying at PascaKom UI opened many opportunities for me, from being able to learn from expert lecturers, to building networks with fellow students, who have many achievements in their respective workplaces. I carried this network with me until I graduated from PascaKom.
