HIMPASKOM at a glance

The Postgraduate Program in Communication Student Association is a unifying organization for all active students enrolled in Master Program in Communication and Doctoral Program in Communication, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Indonesia (UI), which is then abbreviated as HIMPASKOM. HIMPASKOM was officially established on Thursday (03/02/2022) by the Dean of FISIP UI. HIMPASKOM accommodates UI Postgraduate Program in Communication Students and is family-based based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. HIMPASKOM UI has an autonomous status and has a coordinative relationship with the UI Department of Communication and student organizations at the faculty and university levels.

Currently HIMPASKOM has entered its third year of management which is actively managed by the 2023 generation of Postgraduate Program in Communication, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UI students. This second management was officially inaugurated on January 15, 2024 and became the management for the 2024/2025 period. Chaired by Muhammad Fauzi Fitri Andikawan, HIMPASKOM 2024 has the tagline #ElaborationInnovation. #ElaborationInnovationvis the basic spirit in the management of HIMPASKOM 2024. Based on this spirit, HIMPASKOM 2024 is committed to being the initiator, means, and driver of the collaboration of UI Postgraduate Program in Communication Students with various parties in creating academic and non-academic activities that are useful, impactful, and inspiring.

HIMPASKOM 2024 has five divisions divided into Academic Division, Internal Division, Public Relations and Institutional Division, Social Media and Creative Content Division, and Community Service Division. HIMPASKOM for the 2024/2025 period in particular also has the following vision and mission:

Vision

Realizing HIMPASKOM UI as a forum for collaborating innovative, inclusive, and collaborative ideas for Postgraduate Program in Communication Students, both in academic and non-academic activities.

Mission

  1. Organizing activities that can strengthen the relationship, both among fellow UI Master Program students as well as Undergraduate and Doctoral Program students and the Academic Community of the UI Department of Communication.
  2. Become a place for students to express and actualize themselves through various meaningful activities.
  3. Become a bridge of communication between Postgraduate Program students and the Academic Community at the UI Department of Communication.
  4. Organizing academic and non-academic activities in the field of communication as a form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

Function

  1. Participate in carrying out the Tridharma of Higher Education, namely: Education, Research, and Community Service;
  2. To accommodate and develop the interests and talents of Postgraduate students of the Department of Communication Universitas Indonesia;
  3. Build and maintain family ties between HIMPASKOM Universitas Indonesia members.

Emblem and Meaning of HIMPASKOM Emblem

The HIMPASKOM UI symbol has a flower shape with an arrangement of nine crowns in a top perspective. Flowers symbolize the success of the growth of the Graduate Program in Communication, to become a place that produces students so that they can make a positive contribution to the social environment. The nine flower crowns symbolize synergy or unity that is beneficial to the ecosystem. The number nine is the serial number of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia which is the largest and best number in a single digit number. This represents the organization’s value to continuously develop and contribute to academic and practical competencies. The orange line represents the color of Makara Universitas Indonesia, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. The white color means sincerity in carrying out activities to provide thoughts and energy to UI and all elements of society. (DLN)
