DEPOK – The Pre-Graduation event is one of a series of University of Indonesia Graduation events held by each faculty, including FISIP UI. The event took place on Tuesday morning, February 27, 2024 at the Purnomo Prawiro Multipurpose Hall, FISIP UI Campus, Depok. The host opened the Pre-Graduation event which began with a prayer together and remarks from the Dean of FISIP UI, Prof. Dr. Semiarto Aji Purwanto. “I feel proud to release FISIP UI alumni from the Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral levels. I am sure that every graduate of FISIP UI is able to be a good example in the midst of Indonesian society,” that was a sentence uttered by the Dean of FISIP UI in his short and warm speech.
The core of the FISIP UI 2024 Pre-Graduation event is to celebrate the graduation of students in an intimate atmosphere in the style of the orange faculty before attending the combined Graduation on March 1 and 2, 2024. The graduates had the opportunity to shake hands and take photos with the Dean and leaders of each department. The students were also treated to inspiring stories of FISIP UI alumni who have successfully pursued their careers. Dyan Shinto E. Nugroho and Ahmad Alhafiz are two of the many inspiring alumni. They shared the stories and experiences they gained after graduating from FISIP UI, even a piece of the lecture story was also conveyed while reviewing memories of being a student.
Another event that was no less inspiring was the graduation speech delivered by Nicole Accalia Angriawan, one of FISIP UI’s outstanding students who successfully completed her undergraduate degree summa cum laude. The graduation speech was also delivered by Bayu Satria Utomo, Chairman of BEM FISIP UI 2021. Both conveyed their experiences while studying at FISIP UI, stories of joy and sorrow, as well as their emotion and gratitude to their parents, lecturers, and fellow students. They also expressed their best wishes for their future employment.
The Department of Communication is even more proud because at the Pre-Graduation FISIP UI this time, the event was completed with a melodious song sung by Herdiantyara Mardhika, one of the graduates from the Communication Science Graduate Program. Tyara invited all graduates to sing together in the middle of the Pre-Graduation event. This immediately added to the excitement and cheers from the entire audience at the Purnomo Prawiro Meeting Hall.
The event ended with a flashback of the graduates from the beginning of becoming new students. In the end, this graduation is not the end of learning, but the starting gate to the post-study world.
