Scientific Oration and Merry Stage of the 56th Anniversary of FISIP UI

DEPOK – A long series that is both educating and exhilarating at this year’s FISIP UI Anniversary Celebration. The Scientific Oration as the culmination of the 56th FISIP UI Anniversary Celebration was held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Juwono Sudarsono Auditorium, 2nd Floor F Building, FISIP UI Depok starting at 08.00 WIB. The event opened with remarks from the Dean of FISIP UI, Prof. Semiarto Aji Purwanto and the Rector of UI, Prof. Ari Kuncoro.

The Scientific Oration as the main event was started by Dr. Geger Riyanto who discussed about “Pessimism of Mind and Optimism of Will.” Followed by Prof. Dr. Donna Asteria as Professor of the Department of Communication Science FISIP UI who highlighted “Climate Resilience and Environmental Sustainability for Social Sustainability” as a reflection of the role of Social Science. This scientific oration aims to enliven the role of social science and various aspects of research and life.

It was a serious affair that drew a lot of enthusiasm from the audience. The Scientific Oration was interspersed with interesting entertainment from the Swara Jingga Choir and the Graduate of FISIP UI Graduate Program in Communication Science Class of 2022, Herdiantyara Mardhika. Tyara’s song “Sesaat Kau Hadir” won the eyes of the entire auditorium.

The Anniversary Celebration with the cutting of tumpeng, the screening of greeting videos, and the Celebration of the Achievements of the FISIP UI Academic Community closed the Scientific Oration activities. On this occasion, the Postgraduate Program in Communication Sciences was awarded the “Best EVISEM Score for Odd and Even Semester 2022/2023” for Master and Doctoral programs from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UI. To conclude the series of FISIP UI 56th Anniversary Celebrations, the Fun Stage was held in a festive manner right in the middle of Tunas Bangsa Park FISIP UI. The lecturers, staff and students of the Department of Communication Science FISIP UI also collaborated and presented in the opening performance of the Gembira Stage. A total of 17 performers performed the songs “Gang Kelinci” and “Cikini to Gondangdia” with great fanfare. GLS
