Communication Science Graduate Student Association (HIMPASKOM)

HIMPASKOM at a glance

The Postgraduate Program in Communication Student Association is a unifying organization for all active students enrolled in Master Program in Communication and Doctoral Program in Communication, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Indonesia (UI), which is then abbreviated as HIMPASKOM. HIMPASKOM was officially established on Thursday (03/02/2022) by the Dean of FISIP UI. HIMPASKOM accommodates UI Postgraduate Program in Communication Students and is family-based based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. HIMPASKOM UI has an autonomous status and has a coordinative relationship with the UI Department of Communication and student organizations at the faculty and university levels.

HIMPASKOM 4.0: Management 2025/2026

The management of HIMPASKOM (Postgraduate Student Association of Communication Science) FISIP UI has entered its fourth year. As a pioneer of student association organizations at the Postgraduate level, HIMPASKOM 4.0 continues to carry out its function as a forum for conveying academic and non-academic information, and mediating communication between students and the academic community at the Department of Communication Science, University of Indonesia. Thus, HIMPASKOM 4.0 strives to provide new enthusiasm in the academic and non-academic activities of the Postgraduate Program Students of the Department of Communication Sciences UI.

Chaired by Haris Pramajakti, HIMPASKOM 4.0 has four divisions including: Internal Division, Academic Division, Public Relations and Institutional Division, and Media Information Communication Division. These four divisions also work together with the Vice Chairman I, Vice Chairman II, Secretary, and Treasurer in carrying out the vision and mission of HIMPASKOM 4.0.

The following is the Vision and Mission of HIMPASKOM for the 2025/2026 period.

Vision

Making HIMPASKOM UI a harmonious space that synergizes students across levels and nurtures the postgraduate community to grow, connect, and empower.

Mission

  1. Building a bridge of collaboration between HIMPASKOM, HIMAKOM, and the UI Communication Science Postgraduate Study Program to strengthen cross-level synergies and support the continuity of academic and student activities.
  2. Providing a space for active participation for postgraduate students to express their aspirations, contribute to academic activities, research, and publications with the Study Program and academic community.
  3. Fostering a sense of ownership and togetherness through reflective and collaborative activities that strengthen inter-departmental relationships and strengthen the positive image of the UI Postgraduate Communication Science community.
  4. Organizing academic and non-academic activities in the field of communication as a form of implementing the values of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and strengthening the role of HIMPASKOM as a study program partner.

Work Programs

With the inauguration of the new management, HIMPASKOM 4.0 also has eight work programs that are in line with the vision and mission, including:

  1. Welcoming Post 2025: Welcoming activities for new UI Communication Science postgraduate students as an initial space to get to know HIMPASKOM and build togetherness across generations.
  2. Communication Forum 2025 (FORKOM): An open discussion that reviews contemporary communication and political issues as a form of academic reflection for graduate students.
  3. Open Communication Books: An academic literacy activity that invites students to discuss current communication books to broaden their theoretical and practical horizons.
  4. Himpaskom Goes to Society: A community service program in the form of communication education activities in schools, such as media literacy and digital communication.
  5. HIMPASKOM Connect: A program to strengthen academic networking through active participation in conferences, seminars, and external forums.
  6. Communication Festival 2025 (FESKOM): HIMPASKOM’s annual series of academic and entertainment activities.
  7. Great Deliberation 2026: Activities to evaluate the HIMPASKOM work program for the 2025/2026 period.
  8. General Election of HIMPASKOM Chairperson 2025/2026: Activities to elect the HIMPASKOM Chairperson democratically involving all UI Communication Science Postgraduate Students.

Well done, HIMPASKOM 4.0! Hopefully HIMPASKOM UI will continue to be an innovative, inclusive, and collaborative means of idea elaboration, not only for internal Universitas Indonesia, but also for the local community and society as a whole (EMP).

Emblem and Meaning of HIMPASKOM Emblem

The HIMPASKOM UI symbol has a flower shape with an arrangement of nine crowns in a top perspective. Flowers symbolize the success of the growth of the Graduate Program in Communication, to become a place that produces students so that they can make a positive contribution to the social environment. The nine flower crowns symbolize synergy or unity that is beneficial to the ecosystem. The number nine is the serial number of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia which is the largest and best number in a single digit number. This represents the organization’s value to continuously develop and contribute to academic and practical competencies. The orange line represents the color of Makara Universitas Indonesia, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. The white color means sincerity in carrying out activities to provide thoughts and energy to UI and all elements of society. (DLN)
